Author's Note In an earlier piece about Southdown 's Queen Marys, I averred that the real reason that I had chosen to write about them was that they had always been there and were thus almost an 'easy' topic.
Somewhere at the back of my mind I envisaged writing a follow-up some years later when all but a handful had gone ..and I believe the time for that follow-up is now.
